Hello friends! I’m Tyler, an LA-based registered dietitian and 200-hr RYT yoga instructor. I work in food communications/marketing, where I get to nerd out on research, roll my eyes at made-up nutrition info, and stay up on what the kids are talking about these days.
Outside of work, I am a yogi, adventurer, farmers market tourist, semi-professional bruncher, amateur cook/baker, and rainbow sprinkles enthusiast with passion for food puns.
A little background on me: I ventured northeast (very north, very east) for college where I majored in Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. It is there that I [eventually] discovered my love for nutrition and started on my path toward becoming a registered dietitian!
After aggressively satisfying my curiosity about what it’d be like to live in a city with all four seasons, I returned back to sunny California, vowed to never complain about “boring” weather again, and completed my dietetic internship with a concentration in Nutrition Communications and Marketing.
Perhaps one of my favorite things about growing up in LA was that it exposed me to an incredible diversity of foods, cultures and people from a young age. I’ve watched the world of food, research and innovation evolve around me and continue to be inspired by it every day. I feel fortunate to have been immersed in it all – perusing farmers markets around the city and exploring local spots both old and new that together have written the colorful story of LA through food, culture and community.
My philosophy is that food and nutrition should be fun, balanced, and creative; diverse in color, texture, flavor, and influence. Most importantly, it should be realistic and accessible. I believe in connecting with what we eat: what it is, how it came to be and how it nourishes you — belly, body and soul! I love cooking and baking, and truly believe that anyone can be their own chef in a way that works in their life. Personally, I’ve been playing in the kitchen since I had to sit on the counter top to reach the stove (note: suboptimal food safety practices).
Welcome. Everything here is for you to enjoy. Explore new foods. Try new things. Expand your random-fact repertoire. Laugh (or don’t) at terrible food puns.
Life is hard. Gotta roll with the brunches.
